Q. I know that that they operate differently, but don t they both have the same desired goal? I know they are each physically difference and one seems a lot more harsh than the other but in the end, they can both be viewed as instruments used to control and repress women and to also control sexuality in society. Some people I have seen even argue that hijab is insulting to men as well, since it implies that men are so mentally/emotionally weak that they have no self control or sense to NOT ogle or even rape a woman if she is not covered from head to toe. Also, it is true that hijab is not supposed to be forced upon women but in some societies where Islam has a very strong influence, it appears that it actually is.
