Celibacy is defined as the lifestyle of someone who is, and is striving to remain, unmarried all his/her life. It is also used to describe a state of life where one chooses to abstain from all sexual activities (also known as "continence"). Often, it is incorrectly used to refer to a mixed, an involuntary, or even temporary abstinence from sexual relations – celibacy is by definition a freely chosen state of being unmarried and practicing sexual abstinence. Although celibacy usually means no "standard" sex, it really means no sex at all (oral, anal, multiple partners) It does mean you can masturbate, but then you get into a gray area if he masturbates you Answered by Mahoro_Ando - Thu Nov 27 09:45:32 2008 Is the burden of celibacy too much for priests? Q. Doesn't it seem like an unattractive option? And what exactly is sinful? Is sin all sexual activity including with a man/woman and also masterbation? If that's the case it seems an impossible ideal. Asked by creeper1 - Mon Dec 22 20:11:02 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. You are right. It is impossible...at the natural level. But God, when He calls men to the priesthood, grants them the graces needed to be faithful to that call. And for God, nothing is impossible. The problem is not that the ideal is not livable; the problem is that people who believe it to be impossible simply do not have enough faith in God. Priestly celibacy is a gift from God. It is not a burden. That doesn't make it easy, but in love, even difficult things are transformed. The priest is a man of God, and so, out of love for God (and for no other reason than that), he chooses freely to embrace the celibate state of life. I hope this helps. My opinion is it depends on what the sex is like who its with is it for the right reasons. I do believe that celibacy can help having been on both end of the scale. If your having sex just to validate yourself it can make you feel worse but if your in love and its with a person who makes you feel good about yourself then it really can be more than just sex. Ask anyone who has gone out with a person where the sex is fantastic but there is no real connection and they will tell you the relationship doesent last no matter how good the sex is. On a personal level the best relationship I had was with someone where the sex was merely ok but thats just me. At the moment I am going through a… [cont.] Answered by tipto m - Tue Apr 22 18:31:55 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "celibacy" |
